Kanchi Mamunivar Centre for Post Graduate Studies is a unique Government institution offering only Post Graduate Courses, in addition to M.Phil., and Ph.D programme. This Centre was established as a separate PG institution during the year 1989 by the Government of Puducherry and is affiliated to the Pondicherry University.

    The successive progress has turned this Post Graduate institution into a full fledged Research institution. The consistent performance of the Centre has enabled it to find a place at both National and International levels. Within a span of 19 years since inception, the Centre has educated more than 3000 Post Graduate students, about 600 M.Phil., and 65 Ph.D scholars. Encouragement is given to Post Graduate students to take part in NET conducted by UGC and CSIR fellowship test. Special coaching classes are being conducted by the Centre to take up the above test under the minority and SC/ST scheme of the UGC.

    Research scholars of the institution are awarded fellowships by the Departments of Education & Art and Culture of the Government of Puducherry in the names of poets Bharathiyar and Bharathidasan.

    The Centre had the privilege of getting the UGC grants of IXth and Xth plan periods to the tune about 13 lakhs and 20 lakhs respectively due to the keen interest evinced by the staff members of various Departments and their publications. Proposals have been submitted for the XI th plan period also.
